Nissan March seems to be the most popular car that I have seen, but Toyota, Honda, and other Nissan vehicles are not far behind. Like any other civilized country Taiwan has imports of all major brands of automobiles. Depending on the financial status of the person buying the car you can see everything from Nissan Marches, and Tobe to Ferrari Super America and everything in between.

However, as HowJ pointed out Cultural Ignorance's answer is once again 100% incorrect. There are no Iranian made cars in Taiwan, unless an Iranian national who lives in Taiwan built their own kit car.

Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford, and the perennial favorite being BMW for most people. I see a lot of cars that are BMW branded on the streets. Once in a while you will see some very nice looking cars, Ferrari is probably the most popular car-porn-star locally, as well as a couple Porsches driving around here and there.

A few SUV trucks are around but they aren't that popular (pop. density, most likely, and high fuel costs.) A few Mini branded cars can usually be seen here and there, but probably the March or Smart car is more popular here. Small cars are beloved, for easy parking and low fuel costs for most people. Hopefully we will start seeing more and more hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell cars here once Japan starts producing them for export, I bet Taiwan will be top of the list for market testing for them. (I can hope it will be, anyways.)

Cultural "Insight's" answer is spectacularly wrong, he obviously has never lived in Taiwan.

There are so many Toyotas on the road. I see many BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Ford, Mazda, Honda, Nissan and Infiniti are also popular.

I saw a Cadillac CTS for the first time on the road the other day, that is not something I see everyday here.

Compact cars are also popular. Mazda2, Nissan March and Tobe. http://www.tobe-motor.com.tw/home/index.asp

WOW at CI's answer. That is a total lie and false information. Even the link he provided showed no connection between Khodro and Taiwan. WHY would someone take his time to write completely false and useless answer?

Some people say that Taiwan is part of China.

In that case your question should be what is the most popular car in China.

Popular modes of motorised transport is the freight bike as seen in this photo.

Meanwhile in the Republic of China is common to drive around in high class cars such as a BMW.

Taiwan has some exceedingly strict regulations on old vehicles and emissions. regrettably it potential you do no longer see too many (if any) classics out on the roads here. importing sensible you may no longer carry any vehicle into the country it is greater suitable than 10 years old - that's a damn shame.

"MOST popular"??

It HAS to be my Ferrari F50 Cabriolet. I never have trouble finding friends in Taiwan, no matter where I drive it.

Toyota/Lexus, Honda, BMW, Mercedes.

Thank you, "Big Seagull," for asking such a simple question that only CI could possibly get it so totally wrong.

Cheers!

Taiwan's most popular car is the Iranian-designed Samand. The Samand is a dangerously unstable and poorly built vehicle perfect for Taiwanese motorists. It is manufactured through a joint venture between Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) and the Taiwanese government.
